The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai

Laid-back luxuriousness redefined
VERIFIED LUXURY

The ripple effect of Ian Schrager’s singular brand of hospitality lands in one of the chicest luxury communities in coastal Mexico with the opening of The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai. Drawing inspiration from the region, particularly the presumed asteroid impact that occurred here, the company’s first property in the region employs sleek architecture that mimics the shape of a wave. At its heart lies a yoga deck constructed from bamboo materials. From this central point, the architecture gracefully undulates outward, playfully alluding to the nature that influenced its design.

Designed by Edmonds International, adjacent to the architects' neighboring St. Regis property, Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai presents an assortment of personalized, tailored and distinct location-centric details. The brand's alluring style is skillfully juxtaposed against the backdrop of regional marvels, such as cenotes—numerous spaces within the property feature cascading plants reminiscent of tree roots in a limestone sinkhole. Yet, the execution is seamless, skillfully preserving EDITION’s essence while subtly incorporating the local touch.

Ultimately, what sets this property apart from similar properties in the area is the unique cultural blend the hotel brings. With 182 guest rooms and suites, five dining venues and a spa, the Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai seamlessly merges Tulum's laid-back charm with the opulence of barefoot luxury.

  • The EDITION's spa reflects the natural beauty of cenote caverns and the jungle foliage with six treatment rooms named after white flowers and a menu of holistic treatments featuring flora-rich therapies.
  • A raised dock, adorned with knitted nets, extends over the bay, offering a leisurely space to stroll and swim further into the sea. This chic, French Riviera-style atmosphere is also reflected in the poolside areas and The Pool Bar.
