The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen

World-class pampering with skyline views

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen goes beyond your usual spa. Renowned for its groundbreaking wellness concepts, Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen spared no expense when designing its wellness facilities in this vibrant southern Chinese cosmopolis. Located on the upper floors of the 79-story UpperHills tower, the ultra-luxurious spa instills a sense of wonder with jaw-dropping views and dramatic 98-foot-high ceilings. The serene space ensures you have everything you need to relax and unwind, including an earthy color palette, rustic touches, a 20-meter swimming pool and a unique quartz sand bed.

Five of the spa’s seven treatment rooms are on the 68th floor, offering unparalleled views of the cityscape and hillside. Even more notable are the treatments themselves. Dedicated to providing holistic therapies that soothe body, mind and soul, the spa’s signature services offer a delightful foray into Eastern and Western healing philosophies for a profound wellness experience that will resonate long after you’ve checked out.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Inspired by the city’s humble roots as a quiet, industrious fishing village that rose to a global economic powerhouse, the interior design incorporates subtle nods to its maritime past. From plush carpets the color of seafoam to undulating contours that evoke a sense of flowing water, the space’s understated rustic-chic décor serves as a subtle tribute to its past.
  • Set some time aside to explore the luxurious fitness and pool facilities. Plan an inspiring workout at the aptly named Sky View Fitness Center, where you’ll discover top-of-the-line Technogym equipment, then relax with a few backstrokes in the 20-meter pool under an imposing cathedral-like ceiling.
  • After a workout or spa treatment, enjoy the Shenzhen spa’s array of juices, smoothies and teas to replenish your energy.
  • Arrive early to take advantage of the tranquil relaxation lounge, where you are encouraged to unwind and reflect before and after treatments.
  • Upon booking, we’d recommend requesting the Jing treatment room, where a private steam shower and a quartz sand bed allow for enhanced relaxation. When you rest on the bed of sand, the grains cocoon you in heat, soothing those deep, tense muscles that are hard to reach through massage alone.

The Treatments

  • Prepare yourself for all-out rejuvenation with the immersive Spirit of Shenzhen. Inspired by the city’s subtropical climate, the experience incorporates warm quartz sand therapy, singing bowls, and jade and gua sha meridien techniques for the ultimate healing experience.
  • Feeling stuck in a rut? Reset your energy with a Serenity Sound Bath, which targets blocked qi through a powerful combination of sound, vibration and specialized massage techniques that encourage better energy flow.
  • Popular among executives and social media mavens, the Digital Wellness Escape strives to ease stress, tension and strains caused by heavy phone and computer usage. The 1.5-hour treatment focuses on the head, eyes, neck, shoulders, hands and feet while ensuring a much-needed break from screen time.
  • Some things are better when you’re together. Whether you’re seeking a romantic day of pampering with a partner or a rejuvenating day with a best friend, the luxury spa welcomes pairs in its Xin couples’ rooms, which provide extra space to stretch out together.
